Brokerages?

Postby Brian97282 on Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:43 pm

Anyone with opinions/feedback on Schwab, Scottrade, Etrade, or Sogotrade??

In particular Sogotrade, since they are a relative unknown to many people. From what I have seen it is a legit company that just offers the cheapest trades I have yet seen at $3. Is there anything else for us noobs to really consider other than just price per trade?

I have Etrade Pro level and it's Da Bomb!
Every Trading tool you can think of and some, $6.95 regular hours per trade & $13.49 After Hours trades.
It also has Market Watch and Briefing and you can short stocks over $3 rather than over $5!
All you need is $2,000 and 30+ trades per 1/4.
$2,000 is all you need for a margin account but you need $25,000+ to do over 4 round trips per 5 day period.

I was very happy with scottrade.

The robotic trading software that I use, connects to Interactive Brokers.
Their trading fees are on .50 for each 100 shares with a $1.00 minimum.
So, if you are trading in 200 share lots or less, it is only $1.00 a trade.

They are also available in virtually every country.

Regarding SogoTrade. They have been discussing it on the live chat room for some time.
Apparently cooltrade was supposed to enable their robotic traders to trade through SogoTrade for some time to take advantage of the flat rate $3.00 trades, but SogoTrade does a lot of lip-service but fails on the delivery side. We keep asking when it is going to get done and cooltrade support says their sogo in too non-response when it comes to getting anything done.

I've also heard others say sogo support hangs up on them when they question certain fill prices.

So other than the flat rate $3.00 trades, I don't know how well their support would be.

Im curious what people like/dislike about scott trade . . . perhaps something more specific then "they suck" or "they rock"? 8)

Im also curious if anyone has any comments on Zecco?

I tried sharebuilder, and while I cant say anything bad about them, their system is definetely set up for Buy and Hold investing.
