stocks in the USA! These quotes are also used in our trading games.
These quotes come from the BATS Exchange
through our provider, Xignite.
How do I know which symbols are real-time?
Good question. We don't publish a list of them so you'll need to visit the
Stock Quotes page while
the market is open (see Market Hours).
Our free real time quotes include stocks traded on the AMEX, NASDAQ, and NYSE but not OTC/BB exchanges.
Why are there only about 2,000 real-time symbols?
Another great question. We have access to over 8,000 real-time USA symbols but many of them aren't traded
often enough on the BATS Exchange to be counted as reliable real-time quotes on our site.
Disclaimer: The realtime quotes on our site (from BATS) may or may not match up with the real-time
prices from the listed exchanges (like the NASDAQ) for each stock. This is because most stocks are traded on
multiple exchanges, not just the listed exchange, so they may have different prices. BATS Exchange offers
free real-time quotes, which has allowed our website to offer them to you at no charge.
